Frequently Asked Question!

There are many factors to consider when choosing an outdoor knife. Purpose is key. For basic tasks such as cutting ropes and handling food, a multi-purpose folding knife or a small straight knife will do; for heavy-duty activities such as building shelters and chopping down twigs, a sharp and sturdy bushcraft knife or hunting knife will be needed.

To keep your outdoor knife sharp, you need to maintain it regularly. Use a cloth to remove dirt and moisture from the blade after use to prevent rust; regularly sharpen the blade with a whetstone or tool at an angle of 15 – 20 degrees; apply a thin coat of anti-rust oil to prevent corrosion; and avoid exposing the knife to extremes of heat, humidity, and extreme cold to prevent performance and longevity.

When the blade of an outdoor knife becomes blunt, you can first try to grind it manually with a whetstone, put the whetstone on a smooth surface, and grind it back and forth with the blade touching at an appropriate angle; if you are not familiar with sharpening techniques, you can also use an electric sharpener, which is simpler to operate.

Protect the blade: prevent the knife from bumps and scratches.
Portable design: Choose between full keel sheath (fixed handle) or quick release
Material: Leather sheaths require regular oiling to prevent cracking, nylon sheaths are lightweight and hard-wearing.

Weight: 1.5-2kg (suitable for splitting firewood), 0.5-1kg (light carry).
Blade length: 12-18 inches (30-45cm) for splitting firewood, 8-12 inches (20-30cm) for fine work.

Do not force out: may damage the axe blade or cause it to slip.
Tap the handle: Tap the side of the axe head with another tool (e.g., mallet) to loosen it and pull it out slowly.
